Product
process
The
Tudor Oak is manufactured in the same way that it has been done for
hundreds of years by using indirect heat of 1,000 degrees centigrade.
This process changes the surface of every board giving each one its
own unique look which cannot be duplicated by machine or by hand. As
the surface has been treated with heat, it naturally hardens to give
better wear resistance, and it also means that the client can decide
which finish to use.
Finish
Tudor
Oak comes unfinished and has to be finished on site
using any of the following products:
a.
Tudor wax (a paraffin based product, also known as ‘old style’
wax) gives a very authentic look, it is applied in the same manner as
the Camelot wax
b.
Natural oil gives the floor a darker appearance
c.
Hard
wax oil (e.g. Osmo) gives the floor a darker look, but will also
takes away the natural look
d.
Laquer, either solvent based or water based (the water based product
will keep the floor looking lighter)
e.
For a very natural look, you can leave the floor untreated and just
clean with bleach water
Deviations
in colour
Sample
boards are only an approximation of colour and your floor will not
match exactly due to
variances in sunlight exposure and the natural differences in real
wood. Every batch we make is slightly different because of the
natural material, the advantage of this is that it guarantees that
every floor supplied is truly unique.
